What advice would you give to someone suffering with a long term injury?
Be patient and persevere.
How high up in the world rankings do you think you can get? And has there been any time that you’ve doubted that you could get there?
I’ve broken the top 50 and I don’t see why I can’t get there again and do better. It won’t be easy but I’m pretty tough and driven.
Will you be in Montreal mid-August? I Hope you will. I got my tickets for all the tournament and I would like to follow you. Lets go anne!
I don’t think I’ll be going to Montreal this year. Its a great tournament and I really enjoyed it there last time but I need to get my ranking back up first.
Hi Anne, can you let your hair down more? Its so long and gorgeous and makes you look like a film star.
Haha, thank you!
Anne, what does your typical day’s diet consist of? And would you say it’s okay for an athlete like you to have one cookie or bowl of ice-cream on most days, or would that be a bad decision?
I eat healthily but I don’t deprive myself of the bad stuff I like. I have a sweet tooth and love ice cream and chocolate. I run around all day and work hard so I know I’ll burn most of it off anyway. If I’m injured or not training as much then I don’t eat as much as usual. You just have to be sensible about it.
Do you have any good friendships with other players, male or female? I hope you can get back into the top 100 and then the top 50 again because it is where you belong!
Thank you! I’d like to think I get on with most of the other players, some better than others obviously!
You and Elena Baltacha have been trading British No.1 back and forth for years. Do the two of you get on? Or is it too difficult because you are always in a battle for number one? Jake
Elena and I have very different personalities but we’re both very focused on the job we do. I get on better with the other British girls and other players on the Tour because I like to be more sociable. It’s each to their own.
What have been the best and worst matches you have played in your career, and what ranking would you realistically like to be by the end of 2010?
Tough question! There have been several matches I’ve won that stand out for different reasons but I like to keep that close to my heart and keep the memories for myself! One of the worst matches I’ve lost has to be at this year’s Wimbledon against Rodionova and my match against Safina at the French Open last year. Rankings wise, I would like to be back in the top 100 before the end of the year.
What is your favourite Laotian dish?
Everything! I love it all and I like it spicy.
Your best Grand Slam result came at the US Open, is that your favourite slam? Do you feel more comfortable in New York than anywhere else?
I love New York and the US Open. Hard courts is my favourite surface and I hope to do better there this year. I always enjoy travelling to the states, there’s no language barrier and you know what you’re getting.
