Watch Anne hitting in Melbourne

Video of the British No.1 training in Oz…

While the Tennishead crew were preparing for their coverage of the Aussie Open, they hooked up with Anne in Melbourne to shoot a couple of short videos.

Here’s a sequence of Anne hitting with Portuguese rising star Michelle Larcher de Brito ahead of the British No.1’s first round match against Russian Anna Chakvetadze.

Moments after this was shot a De Brito shank scored a direct hit on the cameraman’s forehead, pulverising his expensive sunglasses.

Anne flew back to London last weekend and is now busy preparing at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in Roehampton for next week’s Fed Cup.

Anne will be joined on Great Britain captain Nigel Sears’ squad by Elena Baltacha, Mel South and Sarah Borwell as the team bids for promotion from the Europe/Africa Zone Group I.

Fifteen teams will contest the division. The nations are divided into four pools, with the group winners going through to semi-finals and the two winning nations from those ties advancing to the World Group II Play-offs in April.

Pool matches begin on Wednesday February 4 on the indoor hard courts of the Coral Tennis Club in Tallinn, Estonia.

Joining GB in the division are Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Belarus, Denmark, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Estonia, Netherlands, Sweden, Bulgaria and Poland.

“It’s always an honour to represent your country and I’m very much looking forward to it all,” Anne wrote in her latest blog.

Ask Anne

What ranking do you hope to be at by the end of 2009 and realistically what do you think you can get to?

From: Ryan

Who knows what I could get to as I don’t think there should be any limit, but if I could end the year inside the top 30 then that would be good.
