Doubles success for Anne
Keothavong-Barrois into quarters…
Anne Keothavong began her week in Belgium on a positive note on Monday evening by winning her first round doubles match at the $100,000 ITF Koddaert Ladies Open in Torhout.
Keothavong teamed up with German Kristina Barrois to beat Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai and Belgian Tamaryn Hendler 6-4, 6-3.
The victory puts them into the quarter-finals of the doubles at the indoor hard court tournament where they will face German-Austrian combo Julia Goerges and Sandra Klemenschits.
Keothavong is seeded second in the singles draw in Torhout and now knows the identity of her first round opponent, French qualifier Irena Pavlovic, the world No.271.
Keothavong will take on Pavlovic in the fourth match on Centre Court after a 10am start local time on Tuesday.
The Paris resident, who was born in Belgrade, beat German Stephanie Gehrlein in three sets on Monday in her final qualifying match to book her place in the main draw.
If Keothavong wins she will face either world No.129 Maria-Elena Camerin of Italy – who she beat in three sets in Memphis earlier this year – or another French qualifier, Yulia Fedossova, in the second round.
