Anne goes out of Belgium doubles
Keothavong-Barrois beaten in Torhout…
Anne Keothavong and German partner Kristina Barrois suffered a narrow quarter-final defeat at the Koddaert Ladies Open in Torhout, Belgium, on Wednesday.
The British No.1 and her partner went down 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 against German Julia Goerges and Austrian Sandra Klemenschits at the $100,000 ITF event.
Keothavong was forced to pull out of her first round singles match on Tuesday with a virus that affected her breathing, but decided to give the doubles a go.
The British-German pair fought back by taking the second set to force a champions’ tie-break to decide the match but ultimately had to settle for second best.
Keothavong will now spend time preparing for the European clay court season and will be back in action at the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem, a $220,000 WTA Tour event in Fes, Morocco, that begins on April 27.
