Anne’s opponent in the last eight of the Warsaw Open is the 20 year-old Ioana Raluca Olaru. The 5’8” right-handed Romanian today beat the German Julia Goerges in a three set match that went to the wire, 6-3, 0-6, 7-6(3). Although currently ranked 106 in the world, in 2007 Olaru was ranked as high as 55.

Keothavong and Olaru have never met before. “I’m really pleased to be through to the quarters of a premier WTA event especially on clay,” said Keothavong.

The match, first up on center court on Thursday 21 May, will be televised in the UK on British Eurosport from 11am BST.

The winner of that match will progress to the semi-finals to meet the winner of the next match on center court between wildcard Maria Sharapova and Alona Bondarenko.
