Third seeds too strong…

Anne Keothavong and Sarah Borwell went down in the first round of the ladies doubles at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

The all-British pair were up against the experienced team of third seeds Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs, and the Aussies came through 6-2, 6-3 on Court 5.

Stosur and Stubbs dominated the first set but had a battle on their hands at the start of set two.

The Brits stayed with their higher-ranked opponents by splitting the first four games before Borwell lost serve at 2-2.

After the Aussies held to go 4-2 ahead Keothavong came through a tight service game to peg them back to 4-3, before the favourites held and broke Borwell once more to wrap up victory.

Keothavong is also playing the mixed doubles at Wimbledon with men’s British doubles No.1 Ross Hutchins.

They will play Brazilian Bruno Soares and Russia’s Alisa Kleybanova in the first round.

Ask Anne

When you injured your other knee a while back was it the same injury and how long were you out for?

From: Stefi

It was the same injury on my right knee and that took me 7-8 months to recover from and compete again.
