Anne to face Pennetta in Paris
Anne Keothavong describes her impending first round French Open tie with Flavia Pennetta as a ‘great opportunity’
Anne Keothavong has been drawn against 14th seed Flavia Pennetta in the first round of the French Open, which starts on Sunday.
On her second visit to Roland Garros, the Londoner will play the 28-year-old Italian for the first time since 2002.
Beaten by eventual finalist Dinara Safina in the first round on her inaugural visit last year, Keothavong faces another stern test this time out against the world No.15.
‘Its obviously a tough draw against Flavia who’s been a consistent top 20 player but it’s also a great opportunity for me and I’m going to go out there and give it my best shot,” said Keothavong on Friday.
“I’ve had a few days here in Paris to prepare and I’m feeling good and let’s face it, I can only improve after my performance here last year!”
